I can't find a title though..=((

Help me..find one k??..=)

Have fun!!..

Darkness came over covering the earth like a blanket. The twinkling stars that ‘decorated’ the sky are no where to be seen. The wind swept away everything on its path, showing signs, there’s going to be a heavy downpour.

Eliza Thompson tossed and turned around on her worn out queen-sized bed that made funny noises every time she moved. She didn’t really care about the mosquito feasting on her neck. Neither did the gloomy weather have an effect on her. Her lack of sleep for the pass few weeks, caused her terrible headache. The pain was excruciating, but still bearable. She closed her eyes, hoping it was all just a dream. Wishing someone would lift up her burden, ease her pain. She wants to go away with him. Away from all this loneliness and misery. Be in his arms forever. But it was impossible.

Eliza reopened her eyes, knowing it’s not doing any good. Blankly, she stared at the ceiling. She knew it’s not worth for her to try to sleep again. She turned on the lights. Lazily, she walked to the dressing table and stared at the reflection in front of her. Eliza felt like she was staring at a stranger. She could barely recognize the person in front of her. Her sunken eyes were vivid proof of her lack of sleep. Dark circles were formed around her eyes ripping off their beauty. White strands of hair could clearly be seen beneath those shoulder length, wavy and brown hair.

Eliza’s gaze dropped to the picture in the frame on the dressing table. ‘Eric’, she whispered. Tears started to wet her cheeks. She cried uncontrollably. She closed her face. Memories started playing back in Eliza’s mind, like a film without a sound. Young and beautiful she was 22 years ago. Her flawless skin brought out the urge for all to touch and feel the texture. Her large brown eyes, with long eye lashes will cause anyone to fall in love with her. Sharp nose and lips was situated perfectly in that oval shaped face. Eliza was indeed the dream girl every guy is looking for.

Proposals after proposal flew in. But Eliza gave no answer for she rejected all of them. Till one day, she meets him. They were working together in the same company. Eric Thompson was an ordinary guy. The tall, lean, 6 footed chap, came into her life with curly black hair and tanned skin. He had the most beautiful heart, Eliza had ever come across. December 1st 1987 was the happiest day in both their lives. It was the day where two hearts became one, two souls together forever. They got married in the Church of St Peter.

Eliza had everything in her hand. She can never thank God enough for providing her with all that she had. A perfect husband and a beautiful house created the amazing life she was living.

Well of course, they both realized something was missing. A baby was what every married couple dreamed of having, to complete their life. Eliza got pregnant a year after their marriage.

She was the happiest woman on earth the moment she found out and so was Eric. They bought everything while preparing for the baby’s arrival like a baby cot, napkins, mittens, baby clothes, pacifier and many more.

Eliza was 5 months pregnant when she went for her check up that day. Doctor Melissa conducted the ultra sound. Eliza didn’t mind what gender the baby was. She just wanted the baby to be safe and sound.

Eliza didn’t like the look on Doctor Melissa’s face. She was puzzled after watching the image on the screen. Eliza was worried. Deep down she was praying and hoping everything would be alright.

Doctor Melissa turned away from the ultrasound machine and told them, “I’m sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Eric. I found no heartbeat on the baby’s heart.”

Eliza was stunned. So was Eric. She couldn’t believe her ears. A lump formed in her throat. Tears started flowing down her cheeks. She didn’t seem to understand what was happening. Everything was so perfect a moment ago. She touched her stomach. Her baby was no more there. Her sweet, little, tender child was dead. Her hope in loving and caring for her inheritance was shattered, like a broken mirror. She buried her face on Eric’s shirt and cried. She cried like she never cried before. She cried till there were no more tears left. All throughout, Eric held Eliza in his arms, close to him.

Amelia Bernadette Thompson was the name they had chosen for this child of theirs.

Eliza knew she had to move on. She just left everything in God’s hand. She knew everything happens for a reason.

A year passed until she got pregnant again. This time she prayed hard and took care of herself even more. October 12th 1990, Bryan Edwin Thompson was born. He brought back the happiness that they thought they could no longer experience.

Eliza was thirty-two when she had Bryan. She raised him up with all her heart. Like how she would have raised Amelia. Somehow, she blamed herself for Amelia’s death. If only she was more careful and took care of herself, Amelia would have been able to experience the beauty of life. She never told this to anyone. Not even Eric. She just kept it to herself.

Years after years passed. Bryan was now 19 years old. He scored very well in his Secondary School Certificate. As a result, he was given a scholarship to complete his studies in Engineering. He stayed in a hostel as it was nearer and convenient for him to travel to the place where he studied.

Eric and Eliza stayed at home, like how it used to be, 21 years back. Deep down, they missed Amelia terribly. Especially Eliza, for until now she cried herself to sleep thinking of the child she lost. Eric was not aware of this but he realized she was no more the Eliza she used to be. The sweet, dazzling smile of hers was rarely seen. He missed that smile and the childish character she had. He would do anything to bring it back to her.

It was a bright morning that day. Eliza got up as usual. She went into the kitchen to complete her morning routine. She then realized, Eric still hasn’t wakened yet. Usually he gets up before Eliza prepared their morning breakfast. She went in to wake him. She called his name a couple of times. When he made no response, she started shaking him. But it was no use for he wouldn’t budge. She panicked. She checked for heartbeat. Her heart almost stopped when she heard none. She was helpless. Almost hysterical, she called for the ambulance. She looked up to heaven and prayed for a miracle. She just can’t loose Eric. Not now, not ever.

It didn’t work. Eric Matthew Thompson passed away on 1st April 2009 due to a massive heart attack. Her pillar of strength was gone. The love of her life was now only memory. She accepted his death like how she had accepted Amelia’s. Bryan however was heart broken. But he moved on for he had his mother’s courage.

After the painful recollection of her life, Eliza could feel her eyes stinging again. She cried, “Why, Lord. Why? What did I do to deserve all this? Isn’t it enough that you have taken Amelia away from me? Why does Eric have to go as well? Do you want to see me suffer here alone? I follow your words, I hold on to your promises. But I can’t take it anymore. It’s just too much”

She opened the drawer and took out a penknife. Still in tears, she held the knife tight. Suddenly, the door bell rang. She waited for the person to go away. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop and she was getting annoyed. She went downstairs and opened the door.

Standing right in front of her, was a little girl aged six or seven. With a bowl in her shivering hands and together with a trembling voice she begged, “Could you spare me a bit of rice, madam? It’s been days since I last ate and my feet are hurting.”

Eliza’s eyes started stinging again. Her heart fell with pity. The look from the girl’s eyes painted the suffering she went through. She brought the girl inside and found out that this little girl ran away from the orphanage she was placed in. She stared in the girls eyes, and asked, “What’s your name, little one?” The girl answered, “Rose, madam. Rose Amelia Pereira.

Eliza smiled; for she knew exactly what she was suppose to do. She contacted the proper authority and adopted Rose. She knew her life had changed that instant. Amelia and Eric will forever be cherished in her heart. Hugging Rose, Eliza smiled to herself. She realized that there was no such thing as perfect life but by acknowledging the struggles and courageously fighting the crisis of her life, she is now a much stronger person.
